Finishing touches on double page spread👻

 I couldn't forget my double page spread in the revision process. I went through every single world on both pages and had my peers take a look at my spelling too. I checked my spacing and made sure that my images were clear. I did not need to edit anything else out because I triple checked my page when I created the spread. I did adjust my page numbers so that they were visible but other than that it looks good.

When editing my contents page I decided to change the contents header. I have the T's capitalized and I prefer and think it looks more professional with Contents without the T's capitalized. I made sure that all of the pages were the same pink color and that my spelling was correct. I checked my spacing and it was close to perfection. There was nothing else to edit as I was really thorough when creating my page. I really like my contents page because it is clean and professional and highlights some of my pictures that I did not use for my double page spread or cover page. 

Double page spread layout draft😈

 This page was my favorite to design because I was able to incorporate an article and also pictures, two in one. I followed the rough draft that I made earlier and decided to continue the purple color scheme that was on the cover page. I included a heading to the article, a subheading and description in all different shades of purple. I went on to add the author of the article in black and continue the black color for the entire article. I separated the beginning of the article into 2 sections and included one of my favorite images below. I continued with the bigger and bolder images on the following page with the rest of my article and a quote in purple straight in the center. I added the page number at the bottom of both pages in black. I had to add more text because the text did not fit on the entire spread. 

I still have not checked my spelling and layout completely because it is a draft and I am not sure if I will add more color to the page but I am very happy on how it turned it so far.  

Finishing touches on cover page🤯🙊

I decided to review my cover page one last time to check for spelling mistakes and placement of my content. Not much was edited except for the spelling of Soaring in my main subheading article and an A that had a little dot over the top of it. I adjusted the spacing of Stress! and the spacing of The world has ended to move one space to the right away from her leg.

When I was editing I wanted to see whether or not I could move the headline behind the dancers arm and foot but I was unable to do it. I asked my peers whether it looked bad in front of the dancer but all of them said that it looked very professional. It personally reminded me of Vogue magazine and how in some of their issues they put the headline in front. I am overall pleased with my editing and how my cover page came out and am glad that I redid the entire page before.

Article in double page spread construction🏗

In this post I will be giving you the inside scoop of what my article for the double page spread will be. I have to interview Marley Cheron (my model) because the article is about her and I am going to text her for the interview. I will be including a quote by Marley in the center of the page and 2 photos of her. I plan on the article taking up 2 pages. Depending on my layout, I might have to add more text to fill the entire page.

To Marley, Dance is a sport. It involves strength, power, and emotion. You have to be elegant and presentable to win. You have to be amazing and that is exactly what Marley is. Marley has been dreaming about being an extraordinary dancer since she was 6 years old. Originally, she started out doing ballet at a small dance studio for introduction classes. From then on, her parents decided to move her to Imperial Dance Company. Coming from a small dance studio and transitioning to a ruthless and very competitive studio was an adjustment, especially at such a young age. Originally, Imperial was a specialized hip-hop studio but when Marley joined the studio started to change to all genres. Succeeding in lyrical, Marley specialized but became well versed in all styles. She started to succeed and out dance her older teammates. It came to the point where her competition became very limited in the younger categories so she was moved up. This year, her first year in the Juniors category, she dominated. Her teachers were telling her to apply to dance companies in New York because she was that good, so she did. Awaiting to see the results of her application, she competed in New Star Dance Competition and again got first place in the Juniors category. This time around, she won an award that would guarantee her a spot at a summer intensive at the New York City Ballet. “I never thought that I would even come close to achieving this goal”, Marley stated to us. “I guess dreams do come true.” Marley’s future is very clear, she will become a professional dancer. Whether it is for music videos, movies or broadway she is on the path to success. The most humble young dancer that we have ever met takes the stage again on Easter Sunday and is betted to take 1^st. We hope for the best results as we will be following Marley’s career for a very long time.

Contents layout draft😲

I am very proud of my content page. I chose to have the heading in red to make it pop and the subheadings in purple to change the color and also pop. My numbers were larger than the subheading and in pink so it would be easier for the reader to know which page to turn to. I added my description in black because I was trying to avoid a color that readers could not be able to read so black was the perfect choice. I added the page number to the photos in pink so readers can find them easier and I also added the page number of the actual page at the bottom left and right corner (2-3). Since this is a draft, I still have to review my spelling and grammer and fix any minor details to make sure my contents spread is to my liking, but overall a good start.

Redo of cover page🥺😈

 Finally, I have never been happier with this product. When redoing my front cover, I decided to add all of my text on the side of the image and to use the original image. I did use my color pallet of purple and light pink with my headline POSE being in all black. Instead of having the headline in one corner I decided to put it straight at the top like Dance magazine has. I also italicized my main article and chose dark purple to make it stand out from the rest of the subheadings. Underneath the subheading "Souring High", I made Marley's name in bold so the reader knows who the article and front page model is about. I added the issue, date, and year under my headline for publication reasons. I am still going to review my cover page before finalizing it because this is a rough draft.

This is Indesign software that I used and I was able to make 2 layers for all of my content to fit.

My cover layout draft disaster🤬😭

This week I started putting my cover page together. During class I was in the zone and banged out the cover page in 1 hour and 30 minutes. I cropped my dancer from the original background by using photoshop. I then went on by using my color pallet to design the background and my fonts for the writing.

I looked at my cover page and ultimately realized that I needed to keep the original background and include more text because the magazine looks very plain. I asked my peers in my class (Amina and Chandler) how the magazine looked and we all concluded that it was plain and the background color did not match up. I than went on to ask my sister (who is the target audience) and she agreed with me that it wasn't the right background and needed more text. Below is the original image and I am not cropping it but just going to move the image till it is centered on the magazine.

I am still going to use the same color pallet because purples compliment the blue background. 

My peers agreed that I should add more text around the dancer like a real dance magazine and to mimic Dance Magazines.

Finalized choice for pictures🥳

 I have finally finalized the 7 pictures that I will be using in my magazine. I decided to use a mix of the beach and golf course to give the issue more personality and scenery. The first 4 are for the contents spread, the next 2 are for the double page spread, and the final photos are the ones that I will be testing for my cover.

Part 2 of Editing golf course pictures🖥

 This blog post is a continuation of the post beforehand. I cropped every image and tone curved with light being prominent and saturation added to make all of the skin tones pop. I am not sure if I am going to use any of these images but if I do I might photoshop and cut the image out and place it on a plane background.
