First Ever Film Project 🎦

I did not realize how challenging creating a short film is until I did it.The short film is about a teenager who is working up the courage to tell her father that she is pregnant.
The establishing shot taken at the beginning of the film introduces where the first scene is taking place. The second scene shows a teenagers room (young girl). It is very messy and she is wearing her pajamas. The medium/mid shot shows the girls body and shows the background around her. The third scene again establishes where the next scene is going to take place. The audience can infer that something is going on with the girl because she was sick and going to a pharmacy. The long shot used in the fourth scene provides information that she is in a woman section and was used to foreshadow that the girl is not sick but could be pregnant. The fifth scene, a point of view shot, shows the actor grabbing the pregnancy test to dramatize the thought process of her being pregnant. The sixth scene was created to provide a medium/mid shot to show the actor walking out of the store preparing for what is to come. The point of view shot used in the seventh and eighth scene shows someone opening the door and showing the opening of the test to establish anxiety in the long process.
The following two scenes are used to create nervousness in the observer and actor for the process of waiting for the test to have an answer. Both shots were medium/mid shots. The next three shots are close up shots to really show the viewer how shocked she is to find out that she is in fact pregnant. The shot really makes the viewer jump out of their seats to see what happened and once it is shown the viewer is shocked as well. The next two shots are angled to show the actor at a medium view to establish the fear that she is feeling when approaching her father. The final scene, an over the shoulder shot, really showed the father's reaction without showing what the girl was saying. The dog in the scene shows that it was a regular day in the house and that this news was not expected.
To add, the music used was chosen to show that the rising action would slowly build up with sound and once the talking happened with the father, it would show that courageousness was finally hit. Also, the filter that was chosen was to establish a gloomy mood.
In sum, the film was created to show a girl's courage to tell her father that she is pregnant. By doing so the different camera shots, the music, and the filter created a dreary mood to show how scared the actor was and what it took to overcome the horror.
